WATERVILLE – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be observed with a community breakfast 7:30-9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Senior Spectrum’s Muskie Center, 38 Gold St.

Colby College professor Robert Weisbrot, a historian of the civil rights movement, will be the featured speaker in a program celebrating King’s life and work.

The public is invited. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children age 12 and under may be obtained from Stephen Collins, Colby College, 872-3549 or email: sbcollin@colby.edu. Advance tickets are recommended.

Weisbrot, Colby College’s Christian A. Johnson Distinguished Teaching Professor of History, is the author of “Freedom Bound: A History of America’s Civil Rights Movement.” He co-wrote “Marching Toward Freedom 1957-1965 (Milestones in Black American History), ” which is geared to teenage readers.
