FORT KENT -Two free throws by Denis Traup with less than three seconds left in the second overtime helped give the University of Maine-Fort Kent Bengals a 97-93 men’s basketball victory over Husson College Friday night.
Robert Pilsbury of Husson hit a three pointer with three seconds left in regulation to bring the game into it’s first overtime. After battling through the first overtime, UMFK’s Shaun Tomblin netted two free throws with 5.5 seconds left to tie the score again.
Tomblin reigned as UMFK’s top scorer, netting 25 total points. Tyrone Burns followed up with 23, and Denis Traup added 21 points.
Matt Breen recorded 23 points and 11 rebounds for Husson, and Pilsbury contributed 22 points, and five assists. Randy Fletcher also netted 20 points for the Braves.
