THE FORKS – A Massachusetts man suffered fatal internal injuries Friday night when his snowmobile went off a trail and crashed in the woods, the Maine Warden Service said.
The victim was identified as Joseph Richard, 29, of Ashland, Mass.
Warden Sgt. Dan Menard said Richard was sledding with two friends from Massachusetts when the accident happened about 9 p.m.
The two friends found Richard in a sitting position, complaining he was having trouble breathing. Richard subsequently collapsed and was pronounced dead about 11 p.m. at a hospital in Skowhegan, Menard said.
