Tardif, Moser key Broncos Hampden Academy hockey team records fifth victory

PRESQUE ISLE – Sean Tardif and Karl Moser tallied a goal and an assist each to help the Hampden Academy Broncos beat the Presque Isle Wildcats 4-2 Saturday in high school hockey at The Forum.

Adam Standley and Colin Ingram scored the other goals for 5-6 Hampden. Greg Taylor and Patrick Bailey added assists. Julian Kaelin made seven saves on nine shots.

Andy Beaulieu scored both goals for the 6-4 Wildcats. Darren Carlisle added an assist while Joey Grenier made 32 saves on 36 shots.

Orono 5, Houlton 3

At Millar Civic Center in Houlton, Jake Hedstrom led Orono over Houlton with three goals and two assists.

Pat Skall and Will Toner each notched a goal and an assist while Ian Ferguson added two assists for the 10-0 Red Riots. Goalie Paul Pangburn made 30 saves on 33 shots.

David Carmichael led the 4-5 Shiretowners with two goals as Jeremy Lindon netted a goal and Luke Fitzpatrick notched three assists. Goalie Brandon Carmichael stopped 40 of 45 shots.

Cony 5, Bangor 2

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Ryan Danforth led Cony over Bangor with a goal and an assist.

Dan Tuttle, Derek Gagnon, Sean Brawn, and Zack Shultz each notched a goal for the 1-7-1 Rams. Goalie Casey Tuttle made 21 saves on 23 shots.

John Huhn and Kyle Baker each netted a goal for the 6-4 Rams while goalies Chris Zielinski and Justin Climo combined to stop 16 of 20 shots.

Westbrook 3, Brewer 2

At Bouchard Arena in Brewer, Bill Chayer scored off a scramble in front of the goal 46 seconds into overtime to give the Blue Blazes the victory.

Westbrook battled back from a 2-0 deficit on unassisted goals by Ben Pelletier and Dave Celeste, who tied it at 2-2 with 4:27 left in regulation.

Goalie Sean O’Leary made 38 saves on 40 shots for 5-4 Westbrook.

A.J. Hayes scored off a Josh Caldwell assist for 5-5 Brewer and Jimmy Morin converted an Andy Pooler assist for the second goal. Goalie Justin Boober made 11 saves on 14 shots.

Girls basketball

Mount View 48, Belfast 30

At Belfast, Heather Carter tossed in 12 points as the Mustangs rolled to the win.

Zahara Coddington chipped in with 11 points for Mount View of Thorndike.

Kate LaHaye led the Lions with 15 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and four blocks. Kelsey Bryant added 10.
