BREWER – Lawrence Elevator, a Brewer-based elevator manufacturing firm, has been acquired by Thyssen Dover Elevator, an international elevator company with offices across the United States and Canada.

Elizabeth Perry, a spokeswoman for Thyssen Dover Elevator, said Thursday that all eight of Lawrence Elevator’s employees will be retained, adding that more employees are likely to be added as the company expands its operations in Maine. Thyssen Dover also operates an office in South Portland, and maintains North American headquarters in Nashville.

The terms of the deal, which was approved Thursday, have not been released.

Mark Lawrence, owner of Lawrence Elevator, said in a prepared statement Thursday that he is hopeful the purchase will mean the Brewer office will offer additional products and services.
