BSO to hold concerts for students

BANGOR – During the course of a single day, March 19, nearly 4,000 area students will come to hear and see the Bangor Symphony Orchestra perform at the Maine Center for the Arts in Orono.

The concerts are an important part of the BSO’s mission to provide area youth with an opportunity to experience the excitement of live orchestral music.

Music director and conductor Christopher Zimmerman will lead the BSO in “The Land of Bottle,” a fun, imaginative work composed and narrated by Robert Rohe, the BSO’s principal bassist.

The orchestra will be joined by the winner of the annual BSO high school concerto competition who will perform the prize-winning solo, along with the musicians of the BSO youth orchestra.

The BSO urges schools, home schools and educational organizations to take advantage of this opportunity.

Admission is $3 per person and includes a packet of materials that contains listening and activity sheets, an audiotape and information about the orchestra. For groups of 15 or fewer, there is an additional fee of $5 to receive the packet.
