LEE – Matt Corbin hit eight free throws down the stretch and Adam Ham added three as Lee Academy held on to upset Katahdin 91-86 in schoolboy basketball play Friday night.
Brian Ripley spearheaded the Panda scoring with 24 points, Jeremy Ham hit five 3-pointers as he contributed 20, Corbin had 19, and Frank Severance 13. Ripley also grabbed 11 rebounds and Severance had six assists.
Brandon McCarthy poured in 22 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter, including 5-for-6 on 3-pointers, as Katahdin cut a 20-point deficit halfway through the final quarter down to three with 20 seconds remaining.
Dan Cullen added 14 points for the Cougars, and Doug Atkinson had 11.
