As a master guide and hunting lodge owner for the past 21 years, I have followed the Allagash waterway controversy with disdain. Linda Koski’s commentary (BDN, Jan. 10) finally moved me to this letter. Koski seems to think this issue is about tourism.

The public resources of the state of Maine are first and foremost for the people of Maine. With our hectic lifestyles in the 21st century, any help an additional boat launch might give a family to access these resources should be welcome.

I could just see myself and other duck hunting guides trying to stop a new coastal all-tide boat launch in one of our prime hunting area. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night.

I suggest that if Koski and her other Allagash waterway guides cannot make a living without walking all over the people of Maine they consider putting in an application with a large credit card vendor here in coastal Maine.
