Travis Michaud’s letter of Jan. 13-14 prompts me to remind him that much of northern Maine’s current residents are from Europe, so outside of the state as well. Try asking the natives, especially the displaced ones, how they feel about the Maine Woods National Park. So that “local resident” argument should finally be dead now.

I’ve been to national parks all over the country. I liked the level of protection and guaranteed access in all of them, something that is sorely missing here.
