BANGOR – The Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce plans to celebrate its 90th year of service to the community Wednesday with its annual awards dinner.

Candy Guerrette, chamber director, said Monday the chamber first organized in 1911. There are no special events planned to mark the event, Guerrette said, because the chamber promoted the new millennium last year.

U.S. Rep. John Baldacci will deliver the keynote address during Wednesday’s dinner.

Lloyd E. Willey, 67, will be honored with the chamber’s Norbert X. Dowd Award for his service to the community. The award is presented each year to a person or people who have had a significant and positive impact on the Bangor region.

Willey operates the Bangor-based Canteen Service Co., which provides vending, in-plant feeding and catering services.
