Hawks stop Bucks Hermon garners fourth victory

HERMON – Lindsay Duplisea led a balanced scoring attack to help the Hermon Hawks edge the Bucksport Golden Bucks 48-41 in schoolgirl basketball action Tuesday night.

Duplisea scored nine for the winners. Jessie Wiggin, Ashley Hichborn and Melissa Overlock netted eight points apiece.

Cara Pollard and Heather Pelletier paced Bucksport with a game-high 14 points each.

At Belfast, Angela Berube scored a game-high 21 points as the Oak Hill Raiders of Sabattus got off to a quick start and held the Lions off.

The Raiders took a 17-4 lead in the first quarter as Belfast was 2-for-11 from the field. Oak Hill also took advantage on the line, hitting 19 of 29 to Belfast’s seven made.

Kait Murphy led the Lions with 11 points.

MDI’s desperation shot at the buzzer from beyond half-court fell short.

Marquez finished with a game-high 22 points, including nine of her team’s 13 in the fourth quarter. Jessica Wagner added 12 points.

Shelley Gott topped the Trojans with 15 points, including four 3-pointers. Bracey Barker had nine.

Mount View, which used a three-pointer by R.J. Krueger with three seconds left in regulation to force the extra session, had a last-second shot fall by the wayside in OT.

Casey Kenniston and Todd Curtis had 14 points apiece for the winners and Greg Harjula had 13 more.

Kevin Roberts’ game-high 22 points paced Mount View. Krueger and Russ Peters added nine apiece.
