Estes, McLellan propel Nokomis past Foxcroft

NEWPORT – The Nokomis Warriors put five players in double figures and cruised to a 92-49 schoolboy basketball win over Foxcroft Academy Wednesday night.

Trenton Estes had 17 points and seven rebounds for the winners; Ryan McLellan had 15 points and four steals; Luke Hayden and Shawn Henderson had 11 points apiece and Tyler Peters scored 10 more.

Hayden grabbed nine rebounds.

Lincoln Robinson’s 10 points, Kyle Wentworth’s nine and Pat Lizotte’s eight rebounds topped Foxcroft.

At Bucksport, Joe Campbell had 16 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Rams to the win.

Bangor went 8 for 10 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to seal the win, while holding the Golden Bucks to just four points in the quarter.

Corey Guilford led Bucksport with 18 points while Jason Harvey added 14.

At Milo, the Wolverines scored the first two points of the game but Penquis ended the suspense by reeling off the next 19 points.

Megan Russell tossed in 13 points to lead the Patriots while Lindsay Hamlin added 12 and Crystal Cail added 10.

Kasey Wyman and Casey Libby scored seven apiece for the Wolverines of East Millinocket.

Audrey Porter had 11 points for the winners while Alicia Drost hauled in 10 rebounds to go with her eight points.

At the Bangor Auditorium, Danielle Clark scored 20 points to give the Nokomis Warriors of Newport a victory over John Bapst of Bangor Tuesday.

Lindsey Welch scored 18 points and Michelle Murray added 12 for the Warriors.

Stephanie Sockbesin led the Crusaders with 16 and Christina Rich added 10.

At Brewer, four Waterville players each scored a pair of goals to lead the unbeaten Panthers past the Witches.

Chris Hart, Derrick Pratt, Zach Pelletier, and Nate Hart had two goals apiece for 11-0 Waterville. Cory Gardiner and Nate Whittier had the other goals. Mark Dostie faced only three shots and stopped all three to pick up a shutout.

Rob Elliott and Justin Boober combined to save 36 of 48 shots for the 7-6 Witches.

Bangor 10, Lawrence 1

At Sukee Arena in Winslow, Bobby Leavitt scored three goals and assisted on another and Justin Libbey added two goals and three assists as the Rams rolled.

Craig Franck notched two goals and Ben Payson, Brian Lever and Billy Baker contributed a goal apiece for 8-5 Bangor. Chris Zielinski made 10 saves on 11 shots before giving way to Jared Hunnefeld, who stopped both shots he faced.

Chris Warren scored the goal for the 2-10 Bulldogs of Fairfield. Everett Flannery made 34 saves on 44 shots.

Winslow 6, Old Town 4

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Jeff Paquette scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the Black Raiders to victory.

Bob Picard and Scott Grenier provided a goal and two assists each for 5-6-1 Winslow, while Doug Dorval contributed a goal and an assist and Nate Poulin scored once.

Tim Cloutier made 14 saves on 18 shots.

Nick St. Louis paced 2-12 Old Town with a goal and two assists. Andy Pease and Ray Vachon notched a goal and an assist each, while Griffin Dill netted a goal.

Jeff Turcotte and Jason Karam combined for 34 saves on 39 shots.
