WATERVILLE – Josh Thornton scored 15 points Wednesday night to pace the University of Maine-Machias to a 68-64 Maine Athletic Conference basketball victory over Thomas.
Sharief Sims netted 13 points for the Clippers while Ken Ralph and Miguel Khan each had 11.
Scott Raymond netted 19 points for the Terriers. Jimmy Cardaci and Scott Raymond had 12 apiece. Mitch Orser chipped in with 10.

Notre Dame 87, West Virginia 64
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Notre Dame finished a lot better than it started in its first game at No. 1.
Ruth Riley scored 28 points and Alicia Ratay had 24 to lead the Irish past West Virginia 87-64 on Wednesday night.
Notre Dame (19-0, 8-0 Big East) never trailed but had trouble establishing its offense early, scoring just six points in the first five minutes.
Notre Dame was sloppy in the transition and had 15 turnovers. West Virginia’s 64 points were the fourth most given up by the Irish this season.
