Spencer powers Old Town by Presque Isle in OT

OLD TOWN – Kasey Spencer notched seven of her 28 points in overtime to lead the Old Town Indians to a 52-48 schoolgirl basketball win over the Presque Isle Wildcats Saturday.

Renee Thibodeau tossed in 11 points for the Indians.

Melissa Blackstone led the Wildcat attack with 13 points and Billi Blanchard netted 11.

Cliff Urquhart put in 14 points for Shead of Eastport, including a buzzer-beater from beyond halfcourt to send the game into overtime. Ben Maloney poured in 14 points, Ben Toney scored 15 and Larry Bowen chipped in with 12.

At the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, Will Prescott’s goal off an assist from Josh Kochis in the second period proved to be the game-winner for the Witches.

Kochis also assisted on a Jamison Cocklin goal. Josh Caldwell and Jesse Simko scored for 8-6 Brewer. Andy Pooler and A.J. Hayes added assists and Spencer Dunbar stopped 14 of the 16 shots he faced.

Ryan Rand and Adam Brandow knocked in goals for the Scots of Standish. Chad O’Donnell made 22 saves on 26 shots.

Bangor 3, Lewiston 2

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Justin Libbey scored the game-winner with 7:24 left in the game to lift the Rams past the Blue Devils.

Bobby Leavitt and Billy Baker assisted on the winner. Baker finished with a goal and two assists. Kevin Cobb added a goal and Craig Frank had an assist. Justin Climo stopped 21 of the 23 shots he faced for 9-5 Bangor.

Jon Boucher and Keith Morin scored for 6-6-1 Lewiston. Jeff Belanger made 25 saves on 28 shots.
