HOWLAND – Meagan Cyr poured in 26 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had five steals to lead the Penobscot Valley Howlers to a 57-45 schoolgirl basketball victory over the Central Red Devils Monday night.

Alicia Drost chipped in with 10 points for the winners.

Katie Ahern scored 11 points for Central of Corinth and Shawna Bell added 10.

At Milo, Megan Russell scored 10 of her game-high 13 points in the first half to help lead the Patriots past the Tigers.

Penquis manufactured a 14-point halftime lead and survived a two-point third quarter thanks to 8-for-11 free throw shooting in the fourth quarter.

Russell also grabbed nine rebounds for the winners; Crystal Cail scored 10 points and April Allen contributed nine points and five steals.

Kristin Gilbert’s 12 points led Dexter.

Josh Colson chipped in with two goals and three assists for the 1-11 winners and Brandon Johnson added two goals. Corey Beaulieu contributed one goal and assisted on four and Seth Gaborro added a goal.

Foxcroft goalie Zach Brooks made 24 saves on 27 shots.

At Ellsworth Friday night, Jason Harvey connected for 15 of his game-high 39 points in the fourth quarter, making five of seven foul shots, to lift the Golden Bucks past the Eagles.

Bucksport made nine of 11 from the line in the final eight minutes to hold off Ellsworth, which cut the deficit to two points with 1:30 left.
