MARS HILL – Craig Allen tossed in 25 points to lead Central Aroostook to a 70-62 schoolboy basketball win over Katahdin in a battle of Class D kingpins on Wednesday.

Lance Bradstreet chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds. Justin Woodworth added 10 points for Central Aroostook, which was ranked No. 4 in the most recent Heal Point standings. Katahdin held the No. 1 ranking.

Brandon McCarthy drained six 3-pointers en route to a game-high 31 points. Dan Cullen and Carson Kelley each added 10 points for Katahdin of Sherman Station.

Darren Carlisle scored three goals of his own while Joe Gahagan scored the seventh goal unassisted. Ryan Stevens and Dan Erikson recorded assists while Joe Grenier stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced.

Houlton’s goal was scored by David Carmichael with the assist going to Ben Carton. Brandon Carmichael faced 25 shots and stopped 18 for the 5-11 Shiretowners.

Hampden 4, Foxcroft 0

At Bouchard Arena in Brewer, goalie Julian Kaelin stopped all 13 shots he faced to post a shutout for the 8-6 Broncos.

Greg Brown led the way with a pair of goals and an assist for Hampden. Patrick Bailey had a goal plus an assist, Sean Tardif had the other goal, and Dan Perkins and Mike Brooks each had an assist apiece for the Broncs, who launched 50 shots on goal.

Zach Brooks of 1-12 Foxcroft stopped 46 of 50.
