Jlynn Frazier 3-pointers help Rams edge Trojans

BANGOR – Jlynn Frazier hit three of her five 3-pointers in the first half as the Bangor High School Rams held off the Mount Desert Island Trojans 58-51 Wednesday night for their 11th schoolgirl basketball win.

Frazier finished with a game-high 18 points. Katherine Miller chipped in with 14 points, Terra Curtis added 13 points and Sarah Michaud had a team-high seven rebounds.

Shelley Gott led Mount Desert Island with 18 points and her sister Melissa added 13. Beth Chernosky contributed 14 points.

Holli Nichols chipped in with 21 points for the winners and Dana Frasz netted 11. Amy Kelley dished out 12 assists and grabbed nine rebounds.

Jamie Wells paced Hampden with 19 points, Lena Caron netted 13 and Megan Magoon put in 12.

At Bouchard Arena in Brewer, goalie Julian Kaelin stopped all 13 shots he faced to post a shutout for the 8-6 Broncos.

Greg Brown led the way with a pair of goals and an assist for Hampden. Patrick Bailey had a goal plus an assist, Sean Tardif had the other goal, and Dan Perkins and Mike Brooks each had an assist apiece for the Broncs, who launched 50 shots on goal.

Zach Brooks of 1-12 Foxcroft stopped 46 of 50.

Brewer 6, Skowhegan 3

At Bouchard Arena in Brewer, Jamie Mansfield knocked in two goals to power the Witches past the Indians.

Will Prescott and Josh Caldwell added a goal and two assists apiece. A.J. Hayes and Tony Lorenz each scored for 9-6 Brewer and Rob Elliott stopped nine of the 12 shots he faced.

Brett Bilodeau scored three goals for 5-10 Skowhegan. Tom Hopkins and Mike Gibson combined for 19 saves on 25 shots.
