BALTIMORE – The Baltimore Orioles are pushing home plate back to make the playing field larger at Camden Yards.
Under the new alignment, the fences will be about 7 feet farther from the plate “give or take a couple feet,” Orioles spokesman Bill Stetka said Friday.
In addition to moving the plate closer to the backstop, the field has angled slightly more toward left field. The adjusted foul lines will be almost flush against the left- and right-field corners.
