Penquis edges Stearns 43-39

MILLINOCKET – The Penquis Patriots opened up a six-point lead at the end of the third and held off Stearns for a 43-39 schoolgirl basketball win Friday night.

Megan Russell and April Allen scored 12 points apiece to pace Penquis of Milo.

Allen netted six of seven free throws in the second half to give the Patriots a sturdy lead.

Jen Raymond led Stearns of Millinocket with 12 points, and Shena Pineau and Ashley Boynton netted 11 points each.
