CASTINE-Fairfield’s Stacey Ryan scored the 1,000th point of her college career en route to helping the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners defeat Lesley College 63-53 in women’s basketball action Sunday.
Ryan turned in a 24-point, 11-rebound effort against Lesley College of Cambridge, Mass.
Monica Locke scored 14 points and Rachel Merrill 12 to pace the 12-6 Mariners. Kate Lawler grabbed 17 rebounds.

Brown, Harvard top Maine
Harvard scored three times in the second period to pull away from the University of Maine for a 5-1 ECAC Division I victory Sunday.
At Providence, R.I., Saturday, Kathleen Kauth scored twice as Brown built a 3-0 lead on the way to a 4-1 win over the Black Bears.
Christina Sorbara and Krissy MacManus also tallied for 11-3-3 Brown. Pam Dreyer made 21 saves on 22 shots.
Jamie Hill posted the Black Bears’ goal, with assists from Caillee Heggestad and Kelly Nelson. Dawn Froats stopped 27 of 31 shots she faced.
At Cambridge, Mass., Sunday, Kalen Ingram and Tracy Catlin each scored twice to pace the 13-6 Crimson. Jamie Notman recorded the other goal. Jessica Ruddock made 18 saves on 19 shots.
Meagan Aarts scored an unassisted goal for 10-11-1 Maine.
Amanda Cronin was a stalwart in goal for the Black Bears, making 62 saves on 67 shots.
