The Penobscot County grand jury indicted a Greenbush selectman Monday on a felony charge of trafficking in marijuana.

The indictment of Diane Knight, 52, stemmed from a search of her Spring Bridge Road home last August in which investigators seized more than a pound of marijuana as well as other things indicative of processing marijuana, reported Detective William Flagg of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department.

Flagg said authorities on Aug. 25 also seized a dozen marijuana plants behind Knight’s home.

Knight was one of 50 people indicted by the grand jury whose names were released Monday. Other indictments included at least a dozen people on drug-related charges as well as indictments for charges of robbery, gross sexual assault and assault.

Among the other cases, 25-year-old Jared Kremin of Hampden was indicted on two counts of burglary in connection with break-ins at the Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono in which an estimated $23,000 in equipment was taken.

Last fall, Orono police investigators linked Kremin, a former club member, to the July 31, 2000, burglary of the country club in which an estimated $14,000 in golf clubs, balls and other golf equipment was taken. Kremin then confessed to a similar burglary in June 1998, in which an estimated $9,000 in equipment was taken. Although authorities recovered many of the items from the second burglary, all the things taken in 1998 had been sold, including through the Internet and through local publications.
