Lovin’ spoonfuls

Cook up some romance this Valentine’s Day with whimsical measuring spoons in the shape of hearts and arrows. The set of four spoons, held together with a copper ring, is hand-cast in lead-free pewter in an old granite textile mill in Massachusetts. They cost $39 and are available online at www.eziba.com.

G-whiz

Looking to increase your sax appeal? Try a CD single and champagne bottle made for Korbel by Kenny G. The sultan of sax has lent his artistry – both musical and visual – to Korbel just in time for Valentine’s Day. His painting of a stylized saxophone is featured limited-edition bottles of Korbel Brut Rose, a pink California champagne. And his CD single “Forever in Love,” available free from Korbel’s Romance Hotline, will keep the mood alive long after the champagne’s done. For information or a free CD, call (800) 7 KORBEL.

Specially marked boxes over $20 come with an entry card, or you can get a free game piece by mail by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope postmarked by Feb. 28 to: Godiva “Chocolates and Diamonds,” P.O. Box 5299, Unionville, CT 06087-5299.

Portland palate

At 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, Maine PBS viewers will get a taste of Portland. “Local Flavors” host Burt Wolf visited Fore Street, Back Bay Grill, the Portland Public Market and Standard Baking Co., among others, during the segment. The show also will feature the Maine agriculture department’s “Get Real. Get Maine!” Campaign, which promotes products grown, raised, produced or harvested in the state. According to a release from the agriculture department, Wolf’s series “focuses on different characteristics of cities around the world that help give each its unique ‘local flavor.’ Old traditions, popular restaurants, and special ingredients are the foundation for the highlighted signature dishes he features on the show.”
