UNITY – The former director of the National Park Service will speak at Unity College later this month.

Robert Stanton will talk about the role of the park service in natural and cultural resource management programs.

Stanton was director of the service from 1997 to the end of the Clinton administration last month. He had been scheduled to speak at Unity last year but had to cancel at the last minute when forest fires out of control in New Mexico sparked a park service crisis.

Stanton began as a season ranger in 1962. He has been outspoken on the need for greater diversity within the park service work force.

He will speak at the Unity Centre for Performing Arts at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28.
