Eleven Maine athletes have been nominated for the 2001 McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball Team.

Joe Campbell of Bangor High School, James Sam of Caribou, Ryan Garland of Hermon High School, Kevin Roberts of Mount View High School in Thorndike, Nick Pelotte of Valley High School in Bingham andJared Cushman of Cony High School in Augusta were among those nominated.

Also receiving nominations were Jamaal Caterina of Deering High School in Portland, Brand Barr of Falmouth High School, Josh Longstaff of Portland High School and Brian Whol and Jason Levecque of Westbrook High School.

The Maine nominees are part of a group of 1,600 players nominated to the team nationally. The final 24-player team will be named later this month.
