CASTINE – Jon Newland scored 15 points to lead Maine Maritime Academy to a 76-54 men’s basketball win over Thomas College Wednesday.
Maine Maritime made 16 3-pointers in the game and took control with a 23-3 first-run, and led 41-23 at the half.
Corey Streams hit four 3-pointers to go with his 14 points for the winners. All nine of Pete Pitula’s points came on 3-pointers, he had three of them. Matt Cegelske notched 11.
Matt Pitcher led the Terriers of Waterville with 16 points. Jimmy Cardaci tossed in 15 and Mitch Orser added 11.
