Free soccer clinics are available for elementary-school aged youngsters.

The 45-minute clinics emphasize not only soccer but living healthy lifestyles and staying smoke-free.

They are sponsored by Soccer Maine, the National Cancer Institute and the Department of Health and Human Services.

“The clinics are patterned after the ones put on by the U.S. women’s national team,” said Orono High School girls coach Cid Dyjak.

School, recreation department, YMCA-YWCA or club team administrators interested in having Dyjak and Gary Walker put on a clinic can call Dyjak at 827-8201 or Carol Woodcock at 990-0662.
