Donald R. Mitchell of Means Investment in Bangor has been named senior options principal for the firm and promoted to vice president. His new duties will involve supervising all options related to customer accounts and orders for the firm. Mitchell will continue to perform his other duties as a full-service broker handling stock, bond and mutual fund investing with a particular emphasis on retirement planning.

Melanie J. Bowden has been promoted to vice president of block capital management at BTI Financial Group in Bar Harbor. She attended Castleton State College in Vermont and Husson College and has been with Bar Harbor Bankshares for 16 years.

Fiber Extrusion Inc. has named Tim Hardiment operations manager at its Eastport polyester production facility. He has 23 years of experience with British Vita in polyester fiber production. He is a graduate of Leeds University in Great Britain.

Bar Harbor Banking and Trust Co. has announced the promotion of John F. Gibbons Jr. to vice president, Elena M. Chapman to electronic banking manager, and Carolyn R. Lynch to senior credit analyst.

Tanya LaPointe has been named vice president in retail banking for the Maine District of KeyBank in Portland. Previously, LaPointe was assistant vice president for KeyBank in Presque Isle. A native of Presque isle, she has a degree in business administration from Northern Maine Technical College.

UNITEL Inc. of Unity has promoted Laurie Osgood of Belfast to vice president of operations. She is a graduate of the University of Maine and has been with UNITEL for 15 years.

Nancy Gagne of Livada Securities Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bangor Savings Bank, has been promoted to assistant vice president and will work out of the Bangor office. She joined Livada Securities in 1998. She is a graduate of Kennebec Valley Technical College and the University of Maine System.

First Citizens Bank has announced the promotion of Daniel J. Bagley to credit control officer in the Presque Isle office. He is a graduate of Northern Maine Technical College. Also, Grover “Sonny” Reed has joined the staff as a commercial banking officer in the Lincoln office. He has a degree in business administration from Eastern Maine Technical College and has operated his own business.

Michael A. Thibodeau has been promoted to vice president of human resources at Maine Public Service Co. in Presque Isle. He graduated from Northern Maine Technical College and Husson College. He joined MPS in 1981.

Katahdin Trust Co. has announced the promotions of Susan Lunn to assistant vice president, bank operations, based in Houlton; and Jean Noyes to assistant vice president, management information systems, based in Houlton. Kipp Foster also has been appointed commercial services officer out of the Fort Fairfield branch. Lunn has nearly 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. She has degrees from the University of Southern Maine and the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Noyes has nearly 25 years of experience in banking. She is a graduate of Kennebec Valley Vocational Technical Institute and joined Katahdin Trust Co. in 1979. A graduate of Williams School of Banking, Foster has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Cathy L. Bond has been promoted to vice president at Peoples Heritage Bank. She will continue to manage daily operations at the Fairfield banking center in her role as business development and sales manager. She joined the bank in 1991 and has 12 years of banking experience.

Union Trust Co. has announced the promotions of Robert E. Carter Jr. to senior vice president of branch administration, Debbie Preble to controller, and Sylvia Joy and Brenda Strout to trust officers. All four will be based out of Ellsworth.

Maine Mutual Fire Insurance Co., based in Presque Isle, has announced the promotion of Nat Harris to senior marketing representative, and Roland Cyr to casualty claims examiner. Harris has been with the company eight years and handles agencies in Maine and New Hampshire. Cyr, a six-year veteran, recently earned a master’s degree in business administration from Husson College.

The Bangor YMCA has announced the hiring of Rhonda Arsenault as membership director, and Dora Maxwell as member services supervisor. Arsenault has been a member of the YMCA for more than 11 years and is involved in the Y Management Club. She worked previously in the YMCA’s cardiac program. Max-well has a background in customer service, bookkeeping and office management.

Jeannine C. Ross has been named mortgage loan originator at the Bar Harbor branch of Machias Savings Bank. She attended the University of Maine and is a graduate of Fort Hays State University in Kansas.

The Ames Corp. in Bangor has announced the promotions of Vincent Dinan to executive vice president and chief operating officer, and Vinal Applebee to vice president. Dinan joined the firm as business manager. Applebee is an eight-year veteran of the business.
