FORT KENT – Northern Maine Medical Center will host a “Look Good, Feel Better” program for women undergoing cancer treatment. The sessions will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, in NMMC’s solarium.
The program helps women learn to cope with side effects that alter their appearance, and helps them regain a sense of self-confidence. Each woman learns to enhance her appearance using complementary cosmetics and skin-care products donated for use during the program and later at home.
Side effects, such as hair loss, dry skin and nail changes, are addressed by licensed cosmetologists who volunteer to run the sessions. Participants also learn how to disguise hair loss using wigs, turbans and various accessories.
The program, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, is free to the public. Registration is required. To register or for information, contact Bea Daigle at 834-3142.
