Outdoor writer cited by association

WORCESTER, Mass. – At the recent annual meeting of the New England Outdoor Writers Association in Worcester, a Hampden outdoor writer and newspaper columnist received regional recognition for his work.

In a field of more than 200 entrants from New England, V. Paul Reynolds received a second-place award in the category of best outdoor opinion writing. Reynolds, who writes “Outdoors In Maine” for the Lewiston Sun-Journal, the Northwoods Sporting Journal and a number of Maine weekly newspapers, earned a second place in the opinion writing competition for a column titled “Warden Powers Diminished.”

At the awards ceremony, NEOWA President Stu Bristol also presented Reynolds with a third-place award in the category of best outdoor feature article in a newspaper. This was for an article that appeared on the outdoor page of the Lewiston Sun-Journal about attempts to introduce wolves into Maine.

Along with his weekly outdoors columns, the Hampden outdoor writer works as editor and co-publisher of the Northwoods Sporting Journal and is host of a weekly Sunday night radio program on WVOM-FM called “Maine Outdoors.”
