A regional trade mission to South Africa is being planned among Maine, Connecticut, Delaware, Rhode Island and New Hampshire businesses from May 4 to 12.

The deadline for participation in the overseas trade mission is Wednesday. The mission will focus on industry sectors that have demonstrated market demand in South Africa.

Those sectors will include telecommunications equipment, medical equipment, environmental products and services, computer software and work- force training services.

The mission promises to provide customized one-on-one business appointments, in-country market research and telemarketing. It will also provide in-country promotional campaign, receptions for business partners and ground transportation, as well as breakfast briefings.

The cost is $2,000 for each company. Companies are also responsible for paying for individual1 accommodations, air transportation and meals in South Africa.

Estimate of accommodation and air transportation costs are $2,825.
