I write simply to thank reporter Anna Katarina Stechert and the Bangor Daily News for running a story (Feb. 26) on the four congressional interns from the University of Maine currently working on Capitol Hill in the offices of the Maine delegation. The article captured their drive and idealism.

The students are part of a program run through the Department of Political Science that has placed more than 150 students in Congress since the late 1950s. We gratefully acknowledge the willingness of current and former members of the Maine delegation to give UMaine students the opportunity to experience life on the Hill.
