On March 19, the residents of Ashland are being asked to vote on a citizen’s initiated petition concerning a town road known as the Nowland Road. Should this road be discontinued as a public way, several landowners will lose public access to their property.
People are being told there are alternative ways to access the property of the affected owners. However, there is only one means of public access and that is via the Nowland Road.
If the road is closed not only will the public lose access to a section of the town, but also the town will be required to pay damages to the affected landowners.
We urge the residents of Ashland to vote no on the citizen’s initiated petition to close the Nowland Road.
