WATERVILLE – Top-seeded Waterville scored two third-period goals en route to a 4-2 win over Edward Little and the Eastern Maine Class A hockey championship at Alfond Arena Wednesday night.

Waterville snapped a 2-2 tie by outshooting No. 2 Edward Little 22-2 in the third. Zach Pelletier scored a goal and added an assist for the 20-3 Panthers while Corey Gardiner tallied the game-winning goal. Josh Hart handed out three assists and Kyle McMorrow and Nate Hart scored a goal each. Mark Dostie made 10 saves on 12 shots.

Josh Benson scored both goals for 14-6-3 Edward Little of Auburn. Lance Robinson made 37 saves on 41 shots.

The Panthers earned a berth in Saturday’s state championship game, which is set for 6 p.m. at Central Maine Civic Center in Lewiston.
