I would like to send a special and emotional thank you to all the citizens of the Bangor area and throughout the nation who put together Wednesday’s 10th reunion of the 1991 airport troop greetings following the Persian Gulf War.

I served with the 2nd Marine Division during Operation Desert Storm. When I went home on leave, I was greeted by my family and friends at the Portland Jetport. I also had a special welcome home at my local American Legion.

During Desert Storm, I continuously received letters from home regarding your support for the troops. This was a morale booster for us all.

I would like to send out a special prayer to all those who did not make it home. I lost a former Marine, whom I went to boot camp with. His artillery unit was conducting a fire mission for my unit during the first few hours of the ground offensive. My heart and prayers go out to all my fellow Marines and families.

Also, I want to welcome home once again all the other veterans of other foreign conflicts who laid their lives on the line as well.

I send out a special thank you to all the staff at the Vet Center in Bangor for the time and support they give to us combat veterans to help heal our wounds inflicted while defending the United States on foreign soil.

Thank you, Bangor, for setting up this wonderful reunion for all the veterans. God bless you all and the United States of America.
