OSCEOLA, Fla. – Leigh Ann Hlywak cranked two home runs to lead the University of Maine past Pennsylvania 8-5 in the first game as the Black Bears split two games Monday. In the second game, Butler’s Melissa Benter shut out the Bears 14-0.

OSCEOLA, Fla. – Leigh Ann Hlywak cranked two home runs to lead the University of Maine past Pennsylvania 8-5 in the first game as the Black Bears split two games Monday.

In the second game, Butler’s Melissa Benter shut out the Bears 14-0.

In the opener, Hlywak hit a three-run homer in the first inning and added a two-run shot in the fifth to pace the Bears. Erica Sobel chipped in with a double and single and Aliesha Rautenberg had a solo home run.

Jen Moore singled twice for Pennsylvania.

In the second game, Benter struck out seven Bears in five innings and scattered four hits.

St. Joseph’s loses two

At Fort Myers, Fla., Ursinus scored three runs in the sixth inning to beat St. Joseph’s of Standish 4-3. Cazenovia of New York beat St. Joseph’s in the second game 2-1.

Sarah Smith notched a double for Ursinus of Pennsylvania.

For St. Joseph’s, Courtney Sirois went 3-for-4 with three singles.

In the second game, Kelly Nowman went 2-for-3 with a double to lead Cazenovia.

Emily Nevil pitched a seven-hitter for the winners.

Kristen Gaudette doubled for the Monks.

At Fort Myers, Fla., Steve Osborne homered in each game to lead St. Joseph’s of Standish to a sweep of Illinois College 11-2 and 11-1.

Osborne went 2-for-4 with solo home run in the first game. Joe Holland, Lucas Hannigan and Adam Newell also homered for the Monks.

Jeff Hurie had a pair of hits for the Blueboys.

In the second game, Osborne slammed a two-run home run and Jeff Yaeger chipped in with a two-run shot.
