Teams claim cheering titles

BANGOR – Five junior high and elementary school cheerleading teams took home championships at the 2001 Wal-Mart State Junior High/Elementary School Cheerleading Championships Saturday at the Bangor Auditorium.

Lewiston Youth Hockey (691/2 points) and Poland Youth League (58) earned titles in Pee-Wee A and B, respectively, while the Lamoine School (64) won the mixed championship. Bonny Eagle of Buxton was second in Pee-Wee A, Center Drive School of Orrington was second in B, and Life Christian Academy of Trenton was second in the mixed class.

Bonny Eagle School of Buxton tallied 77 points to earn the junior high school A Class and Scarborough Middle School was second. Holy Cross School of Lewiston won the B class with 65 points, while Center Drive School was second.
