ORONO – University of Maine freshman Karen Droog was named to the ECAC All-Rookie hockey team Thursday while teammates Christine Lane and Kelly Nelson were both named to the All-Academic squad.

Droog played in all 30 games for the Black Bears and led the team in scoring with 22 goals and 12 assists. Her 22 goals are the most ever by UMaine rookie.

Droog led all ECAC freshmen in scoring, averaging 1.13 points per game.

Lane, a sophomore, played in 29 games and recorded two goals and an assist. Nelson, a two-year captain, played in 30 games while recording six goals and leading the team in assists with 18.
