A car accident on Main Street in Bangor on Friday afternoon caused minor injuries as well as some traffic problems.
A car pulled out of Sidney Street and, turning left, crossed the southbound lanes and then went into the path of a northbound car. Kimberly MacDonald, 22, of Bangor, the driver of the first car, said she hadn’t seen the other car when she was turning, reported Bangor police Officer Chris Desmond.
Pauline Peach, 42, also of Bangor suffered cuts and abrasions, according to the police report. Desmond estimated that the accident caused $4,000 in damage to MacDonald’s car and $2,000 in damage to Peach’s car.
The accident occurred at 2:25 p.m. and left a vehicle in each of the north and south lanes, prompting a slowdown of traffic in the area.
A Holden man was charged with receiving stolen property after it was reported he tried to return two pairs of support hose that apparently had been stolen from the store.
Bangor police were called to Miller Drug on State Street about 6:40 p.m. Thursday where a store employee reported that Craig Foss, 31, had tried to return the support hose, but had no receipt. In addition, the employee remembered Foss from earlier that day when Foss reportedly had concealed some items in his coat and fled the store.
When the employee confronted him outside the store the first time, Foss didn’t come forward with any of the items the employee believes were taken, reported Bangor police Detective Martin McCrea.
Some time later, Foss came back to the store and tried to return the support hose, which he said he was returning for his mother. The support hose were valued at $88.80.
