PORTLAND – Police were searching Monday for a woman who robbed the Peoples Heritage Bank at Portland Square.
Lt. Joseph Loughlin said about 20 people were in the bank when the robbery took place shortly after 9 a.m. He said the woman waited in line, then passed a note to a teller demanding money and threatening violence if she didn’t get it.
The woman, who fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, was described as being in her mid-50s to early 60s. She wore eyeglasses and a wool overcoat and a scarf.
No one was hurt in the robbery.
