In response to your April 2 column, “Only a school, only a teacher,” teachers need the freedom to teach, not to be a judge, police officer, counselor or correctional officer. When all of these get in the way of teaching, teachers cannot perform their assigned tasks.

We have children who have lost role models and unfortunately those role models are the parents. Parents need to take back their role and let the teachers teach. We have college students who cannot read, let alone write a resume.
