BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Jody Curcuru drove in six runs over the doubleheader to lead Southern Maine to a pair of wins over Bridgewater State.
USM won 15-1 and 5-4.
In the opener, Southern Maine scored 10 runs in the first inning to jump out to an insurmountable lead.
Curcuru had a homer, double, and five RBIs; and Shaun Richardson added a double, two singles, and three RBIs. Russell struck out six and walked one.
In the nightcap, Curcuru’s RBI single allowed the Huskies to turn back a Bridgewater rally.
Bridgewater scored four times in the top of the sixth to tie USM.
Toomey, Andy Lang, and Jason Dority had two singles apiece for USM. Alden Pelletier picked up the win in relief.
For Bridgewater, Justin Twieraga rapped a double and two singles and Neil Brazie posted three singles.

At Lewiston, Patrick Gaughan scored the game-winner off an assist by Dave Frederick to lift the Bobcats to their fourth win.
Jack Sandler notched a pair of goals for 4-3 Bates.
Bill Getty paced the White Mules, who are now 1-3, with a hat trick.
Women’s lacrosse
Colby 15, Bates 12
At Lewiston, the Mules scored the last six goals to upset the Bobcats, ranked 20th in the country in Division III.
Allyson King led the 1-3 Mules of Waterville with four goals, Angela Pappas added three, and Amanda Epstein, Katherine Wheeler, Lauren Gremelspacher, and Marcia Ingraham had two each. Pappas and Ingraham also had two assists each.
Erin Flynn rang up five goals for 6-2 Bates to lead all scorers, Carrie Smith and Jen Sall posted two apiece, and Liz Lawler, Catherine Crosby, and Kathrene Tiffany had one each. Becky Castle and Lawler also had a pair of assists each.
