CARIBOU – A St. Agatha man, one of four defendants charged in the burglary and theft of two Van Buren businesses, was ordered Tuesday to serve six months of a five-year jail sentence.
Kevin Michaud, 18, pleaded guilty in Aroostook County Superior Court to two counts of burglary and one charge of theft in connection with the Aug. 31 break-in at Ouellette’s Trading Post and Kevlaur Industries Inc.
Taken from the trading post were alcohol, cigarettes, 1,000 rounds of ammunition and a dozen handguns. Tools, cash and electronics were taken from Kevlaur, according to court records.
Michaud was one of four people, including another adult and two juveniles, who were charged with the offenses.
During a proceeding late last year, Joshua Cole, 18, of Van Buren also was ordered to serve six months of a five-year jail sentence.
Also charged were a 15-year-old female from Madawaska and a 17-year-old male from Van Buren. The four were arrested in Connecticut almost a week after the burglaries.
Michaud and Cole were ordered to serve three years of probation, according to court records. In addition, Michaud was ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution, while Cole was ordered to pay $14,993, according to the judgment.

Larry M. Pinette, 36, Presque Isle, assault, 20 days in jail, time already served; revocation of probation, 20 days, already served.
Richard Dyer, 32, Presque Isle, operating after license revocation, nine months and one day in jail; criminal operating motor vehicle while under influence of intoxicants, six months in jail, $2,000 fine, six-year license suspension; assault, nine months and one day in jail.
Lisa B. Moran, 39, Blaine, criminal operating while under influence of intoxicants, 48 hours in jail, $500 fine, 90-day license suspension,
Wade Skidgel, 22, Caribou, burglary of motor vehicle, 10 months in jail.
Chad Walton, 19, Washburn, assault, two years in jail, one year suspended, two years probation; revocation of probation, eight months in jail.
Richard T. Taylor, 20, Caribou, escape, six months in jail; gross sexual assault, three years in jail, all but seven months suspended, three years probation.
The following people were ordered to jail after their probation was revoked:
Mark S. Cyr, 27, Madawaska, 60 days in jail.
Timothy McGraw, 36, Caribou, 42 days in jail.
Gabriel Q. Estabrook, 23, Van Buren, 90 days in jail.
Brian Dumais, 31, Fort Kent, three days in jail.
