CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Maine baseball team defeated Harvard University 5-4 Friday in a five-inning game called short due to inclement weather.
Maine took a 2-0 lead in the first inning as sophomore Joe Drapeau, singled in Mike Livulpi, who had walked. Drapeau later scored on a wild pitch.
Harvard retaliated with a run in its half of the first on an RBI groundout by Marc Hordon.
Maine struck back in the fourth inning on freshman Matt Reynolds’ solo homer. Two batters later, Aaron Young belted a two-run home run to give Maine a 5-1 lead.
Harvard’s Javy Lopez, Mark Mager and Trey Hendricks each drove in a run during the fourth inning.
