AUGUSTA – Three Augusta students are facing charges for allegedly bringing pipe bombs to school.

Police say a 15-year-old male student made the bombs at home, then brought them to Lou Buker Middle School on Wednesday and gave them to two of his friends.

One of the students took one explosive device home on a school bus Wednesday afternoon, they said.

The other student threw two of the bombs away.

All three are charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. The boy who made the weapons also is charged with criminal use of explosives.

Police said the three students would be referred to juvenile probation officers, who could refer the cases to court.
