Bangor floor builder Don Dickel’s feet usually are on the floor, but 10:30 p.m. Monday, April 16, they’ll be on the air. The local craftsman will be featured on the Home and Garden Television program “Modern Masters,” creating an elaborate basket weave design for a client’s dining room.

The program will follow Dickel and his assistant as they cut pieces of walnut, Brazilian cherry and white oak for the final pattern, which gives the illusion of a rug, and install it over the current 125-year-old parquet floor. A typical wood floor takes only two hours to install, but this intricate pattern will take Dickel more than 80 hours.

His business, Don Dickel Hardwood Floors, is located on Main Street in downtown Bangor.
