CASTINE – Becky Roak led the University of Maine-Farmington to a softball sweep of the UM-Presque Isle Friday.
The Beavers won the opener 12-6 and the second game 6-5.
Roak recorded two singles and an RBI in the first game, then followed that with a triple and single in the second.
Pitcher Morgan Hann won the second game in relief for the Beavers, allowing no Owl runs after the fourth inning.
Devin Jewett led UMPI in the two games, recording two doubles in the first and and homer and two doubles in the second. Steph Gagnon also had three singles in the opener, and Carol Thibedeau added two singles in the nightcap.

Maine Maritime splits with Lasell
At Castine, Vicki Jones led Maine Maritime through a loss and a win with a two-run triple and a single in Lasell’s 14-8 first-game win and a single, double, triple, and four RBIs in the Mariners’ 13-5 win in the nightcap.
The Mariners held a 7-0 lead in the first game until Lasell’s Britney Falite and Heidi Lewis drove in three and two runs, respectively.
Maine Maritime went on to score six in the first inning and seven in the third inning of the second game, beating Lasell in only five innings.

St. Joseph’s defeats Lyndon twice
At South Portland, St. Joseph’s Lucas Hannigan scored on a Justin Lambert single in the fourth inning to give the Monks a 1-0 victory in the opener.
Pitchers Jerrett Shaffer and J.P. Pyne held Lyndon State to only three hits in the first game. Lambert had two singles for the Monks.
Despite only one single each from Jesse LaCasse, Greg Dumais, and Wade Goulet in the second game, the Monks defeated Lyndon State 5-1.
Gary Calkins was the only repeat hitter for Lyndon State, notching two singles.

At Waltham, Mass., Tyler Delorme recorded three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs for the Huskies, who had to move their home to the visitor’s field because of snow on their own.
Back-to-back doubles by Colin Loveless and Shaun Richardson in the third pushed Southern Maine out of a tied game and in the lead for the rest of the game.
Rob Rhodes of Orono notched his third home run of the season for Brandeis.
