BOSTON – Husson College scored nine runs in each game (9-1 and 9-5 wins) to sweep Massachusetts Pharmacy in baseball action Saturday.

In game one, Dave Dostie gave up only three hits and struck out 14 for the Braves of Bangor as John McGlynn notched three hits with two RBIs and Jared Foster ripped three singles.

Ryan Hatch of Brewer, Elvin Vasquez, and Anthony Arias each singled for Mass. Pharmacy.

In game two, Jared Foster notched four hits and four RBIs to lead Husson to their second win of the day.

Mike Worcester tallied the winning RBI for the Braves while John McGlynn and Josh Ferguson each belted two hits.

Alvin Vasquez led the Mass. Pharmacy attack with a double and a single as Victor Molina nailed two singles.

Thomas sweeps Husson in two

At Yarmouth, Mass., Thomas knocked off Husson 4-3 and 7-3 in a Sunday doubleheader.

In game one, Lance Haynes doubled and singled with two RBIs for the Terriers of Waterville while Mike White belted two singles for one RBI.

Josh Ferguson and Donny Sawyer each tallied two singles for the Braves of Bangor.

In game two, Thomas scored three runs in the first inning to help pace them to another win.

Buzz Simpson of Bucksport notched a double and a single with three RBIs while Mike White tallied four singles and three stolen bases for Thomas.

John McGlynn led the Brave attack with a double and a single with an RBI as John Montgomery singled twice.

Amherst takes two over Colby

At Amherst, Mass., Saturday, the Amherst Lord Jeffs knocked off the White Mules with a 12-2 win in the first game and a 3-2 victory in the second.

In the first game, Brett Nicol nailed a triple and two singles to lead Amherst College to victory over Colby.

Paul Whiting and Jordan Krall each belted two doubles and a single as John Brody and Ryan Whitmarh tallied two hits apiece for Amherst.

Louis Distasi notched a double and a single for the White Mules of Waterville while Andrew Tripp and Jonathan Lord each ripped singles.

In game two, Ryan Whitmarsh nailed a three-run home run to lead Amherst to their second win of the day.

John Brody nailed two doubles for Amherst while Jordan Krall doubled and singled.

Kevin Brunelle and Jeffrey Owen each ripped two singles with an RBI to pace the attack for the White Mules.

Lyndon State sweeps UMPI

At South Portland, timely hitting and solid pitching helped the Lyndon State Hornets sweep a doubleheader with 5-3 and 7-2 victories over the University of Maine-Presque Isle Sunday.

In the first game, Jarred Carlson singled twice, the last of which scored the game-winning run from second with two outs in the fifth inning. Gary Calkins and Just LaForce each had two singles.

For the 0-8 Owls, Dustin Supa led the offense with two singles.

In the second game, Carlson pitched a four-hitter while Dave Sweet delivered the key hit with a three-run triple in the fourth. Carlson struck out nine and walked three.

For UMPI, Bob Tarpey singled twice and Josh Dillon drove in both runs with a single in the fourth.

USM sweeps UMass-Dartmouth

At North Dartmouth, Mass., on Saturday, the University of Southern Maine swept UMass-Dartmouth in a doubleheader with 7-2 and 12-2 victories.

Becky Manson belted her fourth home run of the season to lead the Huskies of Gorham while Tina West nailed an RBI single.

Mary Beth Lima struck out five for UMass-Dartmouth.

In game two, Renee Heath belted a grand slam to lead USM to their second win of the day.

Larlsa Sobey and Sunshine Anders each ripped RBI singles for the Huskies as Jessie Becher gave up four hits in five innings.

Sara Charbonneau took the loss for UMass-Dartmouth.

Bill Getty tallied a goal and an assist for the 2-5 White Mules of Waterville as Barron Butler, Josh Cleaver, and Jamison Foster each netted a goal.
