Read the fine print

This is about extended warranties on new or program cars. We recently bought a program car and decided because it was a program car that the extended warranty would probably be a great benefit. How stupid. We found even older people make mistakes and learn lessons every day.

We were told that it was bumper- to-bumper coverage. Stupidly we did not completely read the contract. We saw a list of things in the contract that we thought it covered, but overlooked the one word “except.” That list was the “except” list. They cover the drive train, transmission and motor, and do not even have to put in new parts to replace them. This is all for the tune of more than $1,500 plus interest.

My point is to warn people to completely read every last word, fine print, front and back pages before signing. You may get out of this contract, but there is a price attached to it and is probably pro- rated for the time you have been in the program.
