BLUE HILL – George Stevens scored 30 runs in two games en route to sweeping a high school doubleheader against Washington Academy Friday.
The Eagles won 19-9 and 11-7.
In the first game, Chris Sargent led the Eagles with two doubles, a single and three RBIs. Washington Academy’s Barrett Craven socked a three-run homer.
In the second game, Simeon Allen led the Eagles with a grand slam. The Raiders’ Jason Ramsdell struck back in the fourth with a three-run homer, but after four GSA runs in the sixth, they were unable to close the final scoring deficit.

At Deer Isle, Stu Morin struck out 11 and walked three, and smacked a three-run home run in the second inning to pace the Howlers past Deer Isle-Stonington.
Penobscot Valley managed just four hits but took advantage of eight Mariner errors. Morin finished with three runs and Ben Sereyko added an RBI when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the sixth.
Justin Boyce doubled and singled for Deer Isle-Stonington.

At Jonesport, junior right-hander Billy Merchant fired a two-hit shutout and struck out 17 in a mutual season-opener.
Junior lefty Jared Day was the hard-luck loser. He spun a three-hitter and both runs off him were unearned.
Merchant walked two while Day struck out six and walked three.
Jonesport-Beals scored both runs in the second as Alvin Beal walked, Justin King singled to right and, after pulling off a double steal, both scored on a two-out infield error.
Jared Alley doubled for the Royals while Merchant and King each singled. Day and Ed. St. Pierre singled for Machias.

Woodland 17, Narraguagus 5
At Harrington, Chad Pike led Woodland to their its win of the season with a double, and single, and an RBI in the five-inning affair.
Josh Engroff added a two-run double.
Larry Fickett notched two singles and batted in a run for Narraguagus.

GSA takes two from Raiders
At Blue Hill, George Stevens Academy opened the season with two wins.
In the first game Liz Tyler notched a two run single to give GSA the lead. Elise Bishop later contributed two singles and an RBI. Erica Dennison, Diana Bourdeau and Miranda Fergerson hit two singles each for Washington Academy.
The Eagles took advantage of nine walks and five errors committed by the Raiders in the second game. Tyler came back with a two run single, as did Tessa Grindle. Fergerson recorded Washington Academy’s only hit.

At Searsport, in the game originally scheduled for Corinth, Searsport took its first win of the season.
Searsport’s designated hitter Julian Hall batted in four runs on a double and a single. The Vikings took advantage in the second inning with four walks.
Jen Allen recorded Central’s sole hit with an RBI triple.

At Jonesport, Naomi Chandler pounded out a home run, a triple and four singles to drive in six runs and lead the Royals to the win.
Chelsie Carver added four more hits – a homer and three singles – to Jonesport-Beals’ 30-hit total. She also had six RBIs. Crystal Emerson had three singles and two doubles, Hermena Beal chipped in with two triples and a single, and Erin Church added three singles and a double.
Tracy Guptil powered the Tigers with a triple, two singles and four RBIs. Sarah Hussey had three singles and two RBIs and Logan Davis added three singles.

At Harrington, Ashley Woodward gave up three hits while striking out 15 and walking three as the Knights topped the Dragons.
Woodward and Kate Farnsworth each drove in two runs on a double and two singles. Becky Robitaille hit three singles and tallied two RBIs, while Brooke Courchaine singled three times and had an RBI.
Edwina Huwa paced Woodland with two singles.
