HARRINGTON – A strong start combined with a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh gave the Narraguagus Knights a 7-6 baseball win over Calais Wednesday. Gene Stewart hit a two-run triple to get things going, then Jordan Kneeland doubled to tie the score.

HARRINGTON – A strong start combined with a two-out rally in the bottom of the seventh gave the Narraguagus Knights a 7-6 baseball win over Calais Wednesday.

Gene Stewart hit a two-run triple to get things going, then Jordan Kneeland doubled to tie the score. Larry Fickett (two singles, two RBIs) followed with a single to right to win the game.

Kneeland (1-1) scattered 10 hits to get the win and went 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, and two RBIs.

Adrian Arsenault led the Blue Devils with three singles and a double. James MacDonald had two singles and two RBIs while Scott Lynch had a two singles and two RBIs.

At Dyer Brook, Corey Edkins struck out 10, walked one, and allowed two hits in four innings of relief to notch the win for the host Southern Aroostook Warriors.

Corey Shields had a double, single, and two RBIs for the Warriors. Nick Hersey had a double, a single, and an RBI. Jeff Swallow tripled and singled while Matt McCluskey doubled and singled.

For the Vikings of Danforth, Darius Parker pitched six innings and singled for one of five East Grand hits.

At Limestone, Steve Hardwick allowed two hits while striking out 13 batters and walking four to lead the host Eagles to their first win.

Adam McPherson led the 13-hit attack with a double, two singles, and two RBIs. Nick Mauro had three singles and one RBI. Derek Patten had a triple, single, and two RBIs while Daniel Buckley added two singles and two RBIs. Steve Hardwick had two singles and an RBI.

For the Tigers, Adam DeMerchant hit an RBI double and Aaron Kenneson delivered an RBI single. Phil Rockford also singled.

At Hodgdon, Derek Nickerson struck out seven batters on just one hit in three innings of work to lead the Hawks to victory.

Chris Stewart banged out a pair of doubles and an RBI for the winners. Dave Stewart had a pair of singles and an RBI.

Ben Grew and Cris St. Pierre provided the Panthers of Mars Hill’s only hits, with a single each.

At Guilford, Drake Martell’s two-run single powered a fifth-inning Piscataquis Pirates’ rally en route to the win.

Martell finished with two singles and two RBIs for Piscataquis. Buddy Leavitt doubled, singled and drove in a run. Josh Watson hit a double and a single.

Dan Fields led the Tigers with a solo homer and a single. Derek Sawyer singled twice for two RBIs and Matt Foster knocked in two runs on a double and a single. Aaron Thomas tallied an RBI, a double and a single.

At Belfast, Matt Woodrow and Nick Faulkingham combined to strike out 13 batters, with Faulkingham striking out the side in the top of the seventh to save the victory for Woodrow (10 strikeouts) and the Lions.

Ben Cowan belted an RBI double. Woodrow had the go-ahead RBI single in the sixth to put the Lions up for good. Faulkingham then pitched the seventh to earn the save.

Wes Zemrak blasted a two-run homer for the Black Raiders.

At Pittsfield, the Mustangs took advantage of three errors and two walks by the Huskies, and a three-run double by Lex Meagher, to score seven runs in the sixth en route to the win.

Brian Bernosky chipped in with an RBI single for Mount View of Thorndike.

Jake Laselle and Steve Kennedy each hit an RBI double for Maine Central Institute. Tom Twombly added two singles.

At Caribou, Leah Drew had two singles, a triple and two RBIs to lead Caribou’s 14-hit attack.

For the Vikings, Ashley Monahan had three singles and two RBIs while Megan Cole-Karagory had a double, single and four RBIs. Michelle Snell tripled and singled while Jamie Landeen and Melissa Brissette each singled twice.

Ashley Putnam led the Wildcats with three singles. Marigan Bishop had a double and a single while Jessie Miller and Lauren Wildeman each singled twice.

At Harrington, Kate Farnsworth belted a game-winning RBI double in the ninth inning to lift the Knights to victory.

Farnsworth had two other singles in the game. Her winning hit plated Becky Robitaille and Brooke Courchaine. Ashley Woodward struck out 16, and connected on a triple and RBI single.

Crystal Martin came a home run short of hitting the cycle for the Blue Devils. She had a pair of doubles, a single, a triple, and an RBI. Lanna Martin had a double, single and RBI. Katie Frost struck out 10.

At Limestone, Nikki Michaud’s two-run double keyed a four-run first inning that lifted the Eagles to the win.

Sharee Dilda had three singles, four runs and four stolen bases and Ashley Brooker had two singles. Vicki Mulherin, Michelle Crook and Melissa St. Pierre each had two base hits, and St. Pierre also had a sacrifice fly.

Ashley Bubar had three singles for Fort Fairfield and Keely Sayers had two base hits.

At Pittsfield, Jenn Cummings scattered six hits to earn the win for Maine Central Institute.

A double play turned by second baseman Katie Adams to shortstop Amanda Leavitt to first baseman Mary Lancaster aided MCI in the fifth. Jasmine Jones paced the offense with a triple and double and Kristen Stevens stole home on the catcher’s throw back to the pitcher.

Candace Sousa doubled for Mount View of Thorndike.

At Belfast, Morgan Crandall struck out 10, including two in the top of the seventh inning with a runner on third to end the game and seal the win for the Lions.

Crandall also scored the winning run in the third when she singled, stole second, went to third on a Mylie Collins fielder’s choice, and scored on a Kelsey Bryant single. Bryant added a triple and another RBI, and Collins had a double.

Winslow’s Katie Gagne struck out six in the loss. Six players singled for the Black Raiders.

At Guilford, a seven-run fourth inning and solid pitching from Karen Nelson gave the Tigers a win over the Pirates.

Cindy Koscielny singled twice for two RBIs to pace Dexter. Freshman catcher Sarah Wyman threw out two baserunners on three attempts.

Alice White-Cyr, Lacie Hanscome, and Greta Korsman each singled for the only PCHS hits.

This was the first softball matchup played on the Ponies’ new multi-million dollar facility. Throwing out the ceremonial first pitch was longtime softball coach and athletic director Pete Caruso.

Mandy Murray had a two-run double in the loss for Foxcroft.
